Watch: Crossing State Lines for Abortion Care

</p> <p>Considering that final week’s Supreme Court ruling overturning <em>Roe v. Wade</em>, just one state right after one more has outlawed abortion. Illinois is one particular of the few states in the middle of the country wherever folks can however lawfully entry abortion treatment. </p> <p>In this report co-generated by PBS NewsHour, KHN senior correspondent Sarah Varney traveled from Illinois’ border with Missouri to its border with Wisconsin to speak to clinicians who present abortion care. Dr. Erin King is the government director of Hope Clinic for Gals in Granite Town, Illinois, throughout the Mississippi River from St. Louis. </p> <p>King reported she by now sees more patients from outside Illinois who have traveled far to get care. “The distance has amplified and people’s sources have diminished,” King mentioned, including that some patients believe the treatment is unlawful everywhere. </p> <p>
