Vietnamese man sold his daughter, 13, to Chinese traffickers for $4,300 to pay for medical treatment
A Vietnamese father from the province of Nghệ An was sentenced to 14 decades in prison for advertising his daughter to human traffickers.
Lo Pho Pheng, 47, sold his 13-yr-old biological daughter to a man in China for over 150 million Vietnamese dong (roughly $6,550) when he lacked the dollars to spend for health care cure for a coronary heart affliction.
Pheng achieved with Lo Thi Cam, 35, in 2018 to propose marketing his daughter, who referred him to Moon Thi Xum, 46.
Xum and a guy identified as “Hong” took Pheng’s daughter to China to be marketed off.
Pheng was able to acquire 100 million VND (around $4,367). Xum also gained 7 million VND (around $306), and Cam received 13 million VND (around $568).
Pheng’s daughter was capable to escape back to Vietnam in Oct 2021 when she filed a denunciation of the criminal offense to the Investigation Law enforcement Company in the Kỳ Sơn District Law enforcement.
In the courtroom, the defendants pleaded guilty to their crimes. Pheng reported that he “did not assume straight” for the reason that of his deficiency of awareness and poverty-stricken circumstance.
Xum was sentenced to 13 several years in jail, even though Cam was sentenced to 12 several years. Whilst the sufferer asked for a lenient sentence for her father, he was sentenced to 14 several years in jail for “trafficking of a human being below 16.”
