Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration

Past thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors authorised contributing $43,900 to the City of Marinette to the acquire of a new 24 ft research and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be able to use the airboat. Nonetheless, at yesterday’s County Board meeting a motion was introduced forth by Supervisor Allen to reconsider action taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the Town of Marinette for acquire of the Airboat. Since the Town of Marinette has a short while ago allotted $500 for every worker for COVID-19 vaccinations utilizing ARPA money when they could have employed their ARPA cash towards the funding of the airboat instead of asking the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre claims, “the City of Marinette got $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”

Supervisor Ken Keller suggests, “there is a purpose why the metropolis is seeking for participation in the acquiring of the airboat.”

Following a prolonged dialogue, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor.  The anticipated delivery date of the airboat is mid-January.
